New Years

Don’t you just hate it when people ask you what your New Year’s Resolution is? “It’s to solve world hunger, now let me be.”

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be such a crab but it just bothers me when I share my goals with people and they tell me “Oh, do you really think you can do that?”

Unfortunately, I think that happens to a lot of people. You tell your family and your friends that you are going to do something great and they then spend the next 10 minutes telling you all the reasons why you can’t do it. Huh? That doesn’t make any sense.

I’m here to tell you, that if you can think it in your mind, it is most definitely possible for you! I don’t care how big the goal is, how impossible it seems, or how many times you’ve tried before. “Whatever the mind of man believes, it can conceive” or something brilliant like that spoken by someone brilliant.

Do you know how many times Henry Ford went broke before he succeeded? 5 times!

Do you know how many people told Walt Disney he was crazy before he succeeded? Just about his whole family (and then some)!

…And do you know how many people have been telling you it’s “just too hard” to lose weight and get healthy? I predict at least 10 minumum (if not more).

Here’s what I want you to do (I mean I really want you to do it). I want you to set a goal so incredible, you are just going to amaze yourself and everyone around you when you get there. Now, stop thinking about all the reasons why you can’t. I don’t want to hear those reasons anymore. I want to hear why you CAN!

Here is how you will make it happen:

1. Write down this goal in detail. This is a must! I have yet to accomplish any goal without having written it down first (and that includes my 30 lb. weight loss goal). I want you to write it in as much detail as possible “I am going to lose 20 lbs and fit into my size 8 jeans. I am going to feel so lean and healthy and confident each day” and on and on I want you to write. I want you to write until you can practically feel what it would feel like to reach that goal.

2. Read your goal every single day. Not only do I want you to read it. I want you to feel it. Look, nobody is watching and I didn’t say you had to do this in the middle of Central Park. You can read and visualize your goal in the privacy of your own home.

3. Believe it is possible for you. Why can other people achieve their goal weight and the bodies they want and you can’t? Genetics? I don’t buy it. No time? I don’t buy it. No money? I don’t buy it. Go ahead try me….I don’t buy it!

I know what you are capable of because we are all capable of the same thing. To live life in the healthy bodies we know we were supposed to enjoy.

Now you tell me. What’s your New Year’s Resolution? (Oh, come on. You knew I was going to ask).

Post your resolution right here in the comments section and let us all keep you accountable this year.

Oh, and you’ll never guess what mine is going to be this year…Stay tuned.

In health and happiness,

Is this why you don’t work out? http://www.thedietsolutionprogram.com/blog/is-this-why-you-dont-work-out/ http://www.thedietsolutionprogram.com/blog/is-this-why-you-dont-work-out/#comments Thu, 04 Dec 2008 13:26:31 +0000 Isabel http://thedietsolutionprogram.com/blog/?p=213

Exercise

I had such a revelation this morning about working out and being consistent on any exercise program that I just had to write and share it with you.

This week I have a house guest. Now because I don’t have an extra bedroom, I had to give up my workout room and transform it into “guest quarters”. Before you begin to imagine me throwing my guest in the garage or the basement, my workout room is really the second bedroom in my home that I have transformed into a home gym.

NO, home gym does not mean I have the most expensive, high tech equipment. To be honest, the only items that make up my home gym are: an exercise ball, 2 adjustable weights, an exercise mat, and an old Spinning bike that I bought used from a local YMCA. That’s it! Nothing expensive or high tech about it.

For just this week while my guest is here, I decided to go to my local gym and ask them for a week pass, just so I don’t miss my workouts.

You know what? I haven’t gone once! Every time I think about leaving the house to go to the gym, I come up with every excuse in the book not to go: it’s too cold out, I have so much to do today, I don’t have time…..

That’s so not like me. I actually enjoy working out. What gives?

I figured out that I really love my exercise room. It’s my private time to myself and I don’t have to worry about who else needs the equipment or who’s lurking around the gym. I get an hour to myself and it’s a great way to start my day.

This morning I asked myself, “Is this most people’s problem? Do they not like where they work out so they just don’t want to go?” So it’s really not the actual workout but the environment that they’re in.

Now maybe for you the situation is just the opposite. You don’t like working out in your home and you would much rather get out and be motivated by other healthy people. Whatever the case may be, choose something you enjoy! You will never make a lifestyle change to include exercise on a consistent basis if you don’t enjoy it. Who wants to do something that feels like torture? Not me. I love my morning exercise time and if it felt like torture, I just wouldn’t do it.

My question to you is: What do you have to do to make your workout time enjoyable? Or (heaven forbid) something you actually look forward to?

Figure that out first and I assure you, exercise never has to be a drag.

Do you need a Kick in the Butt? http://www.thedietsolutionprogram.com/blog/do-you-need-a-kick-in-the-butt/ http://www.thedietsolutionprogram.com/blog/do-you-need-a-kick-in-the-butt/#comments Thu, 11 Sep 2008 18:30:54 +0000 Isabel http://thedietsolutionprogram.com/blog/?p=270

Kick In The Butt

Just a few months ago I had a “kick butt” conversation with someone near and dear to me. This is a conversation I usually need to have with many clients, but this time it was directed to my boyfriend Stewart.

Let me explain.

Stewart has always been a pretty good eater and fitness enthusiast but in the last few months “life” just kept getting in the way of his health and fitness goals (can anyone relate to that?). Now, how could anyone dating the author of The Diet Solution Program struggle with their nutrition and their workouts? I’ll let Stewart
explain for himself. I promised him he could say anything he wanted and I wouldn’t get mad. (Yeah right. Watch it sweetie.)

Does anyone know what it’s like dating the author of The Diet
Solution Program? I know what you’re thinking. It must be filled
with instantly prepared healthy meals and constant motivation to
work out.

Well, you are sadly mistaken, my friend. It goes a little more like
this:

“Are you really gonna eat that?”

“Do you know what’s in that?”

“Are you going to work out today?”

Can somebody please turn her off for one second? (I am in so much
trouble right now.)

Look, I am a normal corporate guy who works 9-5 (sometimes later)
and sits on my butt in front of a computer all day. I played
football in college and keep myself in pretty good shape all year
round. But I struggle with the same fitness and health obstacles as
anyone else:

- Lack of time

- Bored with my current workout

- I just don’t feel like it!

So how did I get my motivation back? Isabel handed me a copy of her
friend Vince Delmonte’s
www.YourSixPackQuestforABS.com. (Actually, it’s more like she made me read it.)

Ok, thanks Stewart. I’m taking over the mic.

Some of you may not know this but I also know a thing or two about
exercise. Actually I have a degree in Exercise Science, and have
owned my own personal training studio for the past 5 years. That’s
why I put such an emphasis on exercise in conjunction with a solid
nutrition program. So much so that I have included some of the best
programs out there by some of the best trainers as bonuses along
with my program. I’ve spent a lot of time researching these
programs and have met the authors personally. As you may know by
now, I don’t just put my name behind anything.

Here are my “MUST HAVES” of any workout program:

- It doesn’t just tell me to do hours of cardio (Bah, I hate
cardio) so any program that tells me that’s all I should do is a
waste of my time.

- It tells me exactly what workouts to do, exactly which exercises,
on exactly which days (Who else besides a personal trainer wants to
write their workout in this much detail? I know you don’t.)

- It has proven results.

So when a new program like Vince’s www.YourSixPackQuestforABS.com
comes out on the market, and it has passed the “rigorous” Isabel
test with flying colors, I feel compelled to let you know about it.
Have you seen Vince? He looks great! Not to mention his clients
look great too. So the program works. No doubt.

But back to Stewart’s little problema.

The reason why I chose to hand him Vince’s
www.YourSixPackQuestforABS.com and not some of the other great
programs I have at my fingertips, is the motivation chapter in
Vince’s is PRICELESS. I mean the first 43 pages alone are worth the
price of this e-book. Not to say the actual program itself isn’t
also great, but if you’re looking for a swift kick in the butt to
finally get yourself started on your health and fitness goals, read
the first 2 chapters of his program. I would not steer you wrong.

You can download a copy of Vince’s program today at:

www.YourSixPackQuestforABS.com

And get the good swift kick in the butt you need!
